Validation of Intraabdominal Pressure (IAP) Study

About this study

Objectives:

1.                  To compare the IAP measured directly via a peritoneal catheter with intra-vesical methods using 3ml of saline.

2.                  To test whether using 3ml for indirect IAP measurements accurately measures IAP in patients with intra-abdominal hypertension or ACS.

3.                  To determine if there is a correlation between tissue saturations in the brain, kidney and gut with IAP and abdominal perfusion pressure (APP).

4.                  To determine the threshold IAP and APP at which there is a decline in tissue oxygen saturation in the brain, kidney and gut during variations in IAP.
